Sierra Hull

Sanders Theatre

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and brilliantly talented multi-instrumentalist Sierra Hull returns with her band for an evening of virtuosity, honesty, and heart.  The first woman to be named the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Mandolin Player of the Year, an award she has recaptured four subsequent times since 2016, Hull continues to excel in the bluegrass genre. She returns after her most recent Series appearance as part of Béla Fleck’s all-star My Bluegrass Heart band in 2021.

Her work as a singer-songwriter and bandleader builds on this impressive foundation; she creates music inspired and informed by bluegrass but with a soundscape and point of view all her own. Folk, pop, and bluegrass come together with Hull’s heartfelt and clever lyrics and often-ethereal vocals for an unforgettable evening of music.

In her first three decades, Sierra Hull accomplished more than many musicians accomplish in a lifetime. After making her Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 10, the Tennessee-bred virtuoso mandolinist played Carnegie Hall at age 12, then landed a deal with Rounder Records just a year later. Now 31 years old, Hull released her fourth album, entitled 25 Trips, in 2020.

“What really matters to me is trusting myself to be who I am, and just putting my voice and my heart out there in the most sincere way that I possibly can. ”
