What makes Rob Kapilow great? He's been compared to Leonard Bernstein and Bill Nye the Science Guy for the engaging and fun way he unpacks sophisticated musical concepts for audiences ranging from novices to connoisseurs.

There's one more chance to see a What Makes it Great? concert this season, when Rob and A Far Cry perform Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings and show you what gives the work that extra special something, how it fits in Tchaikovsky's career, and how it was shaped by the cultural currents of its time.

Rob Kapilow is also an acclaimed author, and his latest book covers the Great American Songbook from Gershwin to Sondheim. It's a great companion to the songwriters and works that have been the subject of audience-favorite What Makes it Great? presentations over the years.
